Happy Memorial Day Weekend!

HELLO GASTRONAUTS!

I hope you are all as lucky as I am to be afforded a long 3 day weekend off from work! This weekend is meant to be one of reflection, remembrance, and a bit of relaxation too. For me, the best decompression happens in the kitchen, so I plan to spend the next few days cooking up a storm while reflecting on life.

This afternoon I harvested the tomato plant in our front yard– VIOLÁ check out these bad boys!toms

Aren’t the just lovely? This calls for lasagna! Happy eating blogosphere!

Can’t Keep a Good Gardener Down!

Hey Blogosphere!

After some trials and tribulations (read: a gopher eating our crops and a mouse eating our seedlings) our garden is finally coming back. We’ve got a great mixture of vegetables and spices in the pipeline and I cannot wait until we harvest and cook them all up! Add to that our bountiful lemon and lime trees and we’re ready for some kick ass salads, citrus themed grilling and of course margaritas! Literally all the credit goes to my boyfriend who plants these bad boys as seeds, nurses them through infancy, transplants them into the ground, waters them, protects them from creatures and bugs, and then finally, harvests them for me. It’s such an awesome thing! What an opportunity we have to have the space, means, knowledge, time, and circumstances to grow our own food!

Take a peak!
